Learn how to make money for your organization WHILE making money for your organization!

How does a small, grassroots, nonprofit organization grow to become a thriving, $1,000,000 organization? Beyond understanding basic fund development strategy and donor engagement techniques, how do nonprofits arrive at the $1,000,000  level?

Learn all of this and more with our newest educational series “How to Make a Million.” This topic will be broken down into three classes, “Building,” “Growing,” and “Maximizing,” where experienced leaders in the nonprofit sector will guide you through the process of taking your organization from ideation to its fullest potential.

Each class will be stuffed to the brim with helpful strategies and tools for your nonprofit and will end with a short, class-related trivia game. The winners of these games will be invited to participate in a final “Who Wants to Make a Milliion” game-show, hosted live on Facebook by Greg Tish from Real Talk 93.3. Contestants will compete for prizes that they can use for their organizations’ mission and goals!

 June 24:  Building | Plans with Instructor Alyce Lee Stansbury, CFRE, Stansbury Consulting*. This part of the series will be all about the plan of building your organization to a $1,000,000 budget.  

July 1:  Build | Tools with instructor, Carol Bryant-Martin, Development Director, Division of Historical Resources, Florida Department*. In the second part of this series, participants understood how to use certain tools to build their organization.

July 10:  Growing | Raising Big Money -  2 pm - 3:30 pm This course is all in the title. Participants will learn how to grow their organization by increasing revenue through expanding their donor relationships.  By knowing the steps from locating, cultivating and growing a donor relationship, organizations can build a foundation/donor partnership that will take them from $0 contributions to millions.  In addition to tips and strategies, the instructor will share his experiences in the fundraising trenches.  Participants will be placed in breakout groups with the opportunity to conduct a mock donor "ask".   After practicing the donor ask, each group will have the opportunity to "pitch" the mock ask to the president of an international corporate foundation.

About John Armstrong, National Director Foundation Relations, Boys and Girls Club

John E. Armstrong Jr. was appointed chief executive officer of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. In his most recent role as executive director at the American Diabetes Association, he oversaw fundraising, operations, program development, board governance and strategic direction for the states of Alabama and Georgia. He also spent 17 years with the YMCA, working at local associations and the national headquarters.

 

 

 

 

July 15:  Growing | The Art of Story Telling - In this fourth installment, participants will learn how elements of storytelling can help grow their organization and donor outreach.

July 22:  Maximizing | Earning Big Money - In this first course of the Maximize section, participants will learn how to look outside the box to earn big money through social enterprise.

July 29:  Maximizing | Wills, Endowments, and Trusts - In the last course of the series, all the information given will be wrapped up, and participants will be taught how Wills, Endowments, and Trusts can benefit organizations.

August 6:  How to Make a Million Game Show with host Greg Tish, Real Talk 97.3  All participants for the How to Make a Million series are invited to play in the interactive game show.  They will be asked an array of questions based on the information that they learned over the 6-part series.  Winners in each round will proceed to the end, in which one winner will receive the grand prize valued over $1,000.  Cheer on your favorite participant as we air the game show on Facebook Live.
