BASICS OF GRANT WRITING sponsored by
Speaker Natasha M. McCoy, BS, MPH Owner and Principal Consultant at NM2C, LLC Description According to Giving USA, Americans gave $471.44 billion to charities in 2020, an increase of 5.1% over 2019. Charitable giving supports religion (faith-based); education; human services; contributions to foundations; public society benefits; health; international affairs; arts, culture, and humanities; environment/animals; and direct support to individuals. Grantmaking is the most common mechanism used by the government, foundations, and individuals to fund nonprofit services and ideas. In turn, this makes grant writing a daunting undertaking as nonprofits must communicate a situation or need and explain why they should receive monetary support. In this session, participants will receive information on the grant writing process and how to develop standard grant proposal sections. The instructor will also share tips on how to prevent common grant writing mistakes. Learning Outcome As a result of attending this training, learners will improve their knowledge of grant writing and how to prepare a competitive grant proposal. Learning Objectives Participants will be able to: ● Explain the difference between a grant and a donation ● List common grant proposal sections ● Prepare a grant proposal ● Avoid common grant writing mistakes Target Audience INIE Members and Non-Members |
